Angeline Bonisiwe Masuku by Angeline Bonisiwe Masuku
Short Description of Products:
Weaving baskets, laundry baskets, chairs, wall hangings, jewelry boxes, center tables and big baskets
Short Description of Business:
I started at a very young age - I was eight when I made my first basket. I was taught by my Aunt Caulina, and I then taught my sisters, our children, and the rest of the community.
Initially craftwork was meant for vocational studies. But for me and numerous other women and youth it turned out to be a way to alleviate poverty.
The baskets are made through weaving ilala/palm leaves into desired shapes and sizes. I excel in the art of telling history by weaving patterns in these baskets.
