On 5 August 2011, South African Tourism successfully kicked off its inaugural travel trade show, Ubuntu Expo 2011, at The Pierre Hotel in New York City to an eager audience of over 150 hand-selected travel agents, press and over 20 South African suppliers.  Notable guests, including the Consul General of the Republic of South Africa, George Monyemangene; Johannesburg Mayor, Parks Tau; and Councillor Geoff Makhubo, were warmly welcomed by Sthu Zungu, President of South African Tourism North America.  Following a compelling visual presentation of South Africa’s recent surge in arrivals, robust offerings and latest trends by Ms. Zungu, Mayor Parks Tau shared important remarks on the state of the city of Johannesburg and why it is an important travel hub that can’t be missed with this key audience of influencers.
