Visiting delegation members from the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) were briefed by Consul General Mathula Nkosi on Monday, 24 August 2015.  W&RSETA was established as a legal entity on 20 March 2000 in terms of the Skills Development Act, No. 97 of 1998. This public entity aims to provide for the skills development needs of the Wholesale and Retail (W&R) sector through the implementation of learnerships, disbursement of grants and monitoring of education and training.

South African-born author of "Noko The Knight" met with officials at the South African Consulate General on Wednesday, 5 August 2015. Ms. Eleni Theodorou holds a bachelor’s and honor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, and a master’s degree in sports psychology from Capella University in the United States.

Take Action! Inspire Change

Every year on 18 July — the day Nelson Mandela was born — the UN joins a call by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to devote 67 minutes of time to helping others, as a way to mark Nelson Mandela International Day.

For 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity — as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peacemaker and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.  Read more.

Consul General Mathula Nkosi (with volunteers from the South African Consulate General, SA Tourism and the Permanent Mission of South Africa to the United Nations) heeded the call to "Take Action, Inpire Change!" by helping clean up the North Meadow Recreation Center in Central Park.

Staff at the South African Consulate General partnered with Central Park Conservancy and volunteered 67 minutes of their time to help clean up the Belvedere Castle in Central Park.
