Wits Business School (WBS) Briefing

Students from Wits Business School were given a briefing by Consul General Mathula Nkosi, Consul Gavin du Preez and Consul Dion van Tonder on Tuesday, 6 March 2018.

Due to an increased demand to understand the culture and business models of developed markets, a group of 18 students and 2 lead academics traveled to New York as part of their curriculum.

WBS is one of the leading business schools in Africa and is the only business school on the continent which is a member of PIM (Partnership in International Management). This is an association of over 50 international business schools who promote student and faculty exchanges. WBS strategy involves greater initiatives to enhance the knowledge and networking base of their senior executives on the African continent.

South African Artists Participating at the 2018 Harlem Fine Arts Show

Consul General Thulisile Mathula Nkosi hosted fourteen renowned South African artists debuting at the Harlem Fine Arts Show “Color Me Africa” Art Exhibition and Sale this weekend in Harlem, New York. The Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS) Tour will take place from 15 – 18 February 2018 at the historic Riverside Drive Church, 91 Claremont Avenue (between 120th and 121st Streets) New York, NY 10027. The weekend schedule includes an ongoing Art Exhibition and Sale; Youth Empowerment Day; Health Fair and three special evenings.

This project was made possible by Color Me Africa Fine Arts (www.colormeafricafinearts.com), the South African Women’s Arts Association (SAWAA), and through support from the Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa (www.thedti.gov.za).

We invite the South African community, New York art collectors and gallery owners to view the diverse collection of art work (paintings, sculptures, multimedia, graphic art and photography) by renowned creative artists Phulani Leidenberg, Ndabuko Ntuli, Izak Fourie, Lisette Forsyth, Bongi Bengu, John Adams, Edith Schmidt, Joy Meyer, Sharon Berry-Ellis, Caelyn Roberstson, Leila Fanner, Lioda Conrad, Willem Schmidt, Vanessa Berlein from various regions in South Africa.

South African actor John Kani, star of Marvel Comic's movie, "Black Panther," in New York City

Wesgro, in partnership with South African Tourism and South African Airways, hosted veteran South African actor John Kani who stars in Marvel Comic's "Black Panther."

Among actors appearing with John Kani in the movie are Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Forest Whitaker, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown and a few South Africans.

isiXhosa is one of the official languages used in the movie.

Black Panther premieres on 16 February 2018.
